VIEWING EUROPEAN CAPITALS IN GOOGLE EARTH --------------------------------------------- This Google tour of the European Capitals reflects all of the places we'll travel to and several of the places we'll see officially during our guided sightseeing and unofficially during our free time. I haven't included all of the places we'll see or that you'll be able to see on your own or where we may possibly stop. But I encourage you to take time before we leave to really understand the itinerary and investigate some attractions you'd like to see. We'll try our best, within the limits of the tour, to see everything we can. To experience the European Capitals in Google Earth: 1. Download Google Earth at http://www.download.com/google-earth and follow the installation instructions. 2. Download the European Capitals Google Earth tour from the Team AZ Travel Journal at http://www.robgirard.net/content/files/travel/panorma.kmz. If you have Internet Explorer, right click on the link and select "Save Target As", choose "Save" and select the folder you want to save it to. In Firefox, right click the link and select "Save Link As", choose "Save" and select the folder you want to save it to. Alternately, once you have Google Earth installed you can simply click the link on the page and the file with open in the program. 3. Close the "Search" pane by clicking the arrow next to the word; do the same with the "Layers" pane. This will help you see the "Places" list better. 4. Press the play button in the "Places" pane (in the lower right hand corner of the pane). The tour will begin automatically. Google Earth will fly to each location marked with a colored pin. 5. You can always double-click a pin marked location to fly to it. To resume the tour, just click the play button again. Of course you don't have to watch the whole presentation--I encourage you to click around explore. If you have something in mind you'd like to see in Paris, the catacombs for exmaple, open the "search" pane to look for it. Pause the tour anytime to go online and search for more information about a location. You can also open that "Layers" pane and check any of the various options for a variety of information on the places we'll be going. In the Geographic Web list, you might check the Panoramio box to see photos taken by travelers from around the world. Check the 3D Buildings box to see models of various sites built by travelers and users of Google Earth. Have fun looking around and dreaming of the tour to come.
